Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation

Mayor Nancy Gardner has joined a friendly competition between the mayor's of cities across the nation to see who can be the most water wise.   The Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation is an online pledge sponsored by the Wyland Foundation to promote a deeper understanding about local water issues.  Mayor Gardner knows that Newport Beach can commit to being water wise and easily bring home the national title.

"The city of Newport Beach was built on a commitment to protecting our environment," Mayor Gardner said. "No other city can touch us."

Here's what you have to do.  Between March 30 and April 30, residents are encouraged to make a free online pledge at mywaterpledge.com and commit to making a few simple water saving steps around the house (such as not singing so long in the shower).  Residents of the winning cities are eligible to win 1,000's of prizes - such as a Toyota Prius c Hybrid, water-saving fixtures for your home and garden, or home improvement gift cards.
