Generous $285,000 Donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County by Newport Beach Auxiliary Angelitos de Oro

With the sole purpose to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County’s “High School Bigs” mentoring program, Angelitos de Oro generously donated $285,000 to the nonprofit organization on January 27, 2014 at Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach, Calif. A volunteer women’s auxiliary group for the benefit of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Angelitos de Oro has donated more than $4.8M to the nonprofit since its inception in 1961.

This latest $285,000 donation was made possible through funds raised during the 2013 Angelitos Card program as well as from personal donations from Angelitos members. A partnership between Angelitos and South Coast Plaza, the Angelitos Card program consists of select boutiques and restaurants at South Coast Plaza offering a 20% savings to Angelitos cardholders for one week in October. The card can be purchased for $60, and proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. The 2014 Angelitos Card program will be held from October 9-15, 2014.

A nonprofit organization that helps youth to realize their potential and build their futures, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County provides over 2,000 children facing adversity with professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships to change their lives for the better. Youth (“Littles”) are matched with volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) to develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on their lives. In 2012, 100% of “Littles” graduated high school on time, and 87% went on to college.
