Free screening of BLUES PLANET: SOUNDS

The Newport Beach Film Festival, in partnership with Orange County Parks and Newport Bay Conservancy, presents a free screening of BLUES PLANET: SOUNDS as part of the quarterly Environmental Film Series at the Muth.

FILM SYNOPSIS: Music is as common to our lives as breathing, but for some people music is an expression, a way of dealing with loss, gaining insight, and exploring issues.  Using post-Katrina New Orleans as a backdrop, Blues Planet: Sounds explores the state of our world’s oceans highlighting many of today’s most pressing issues, from the 2010 Gulf oil spill disaster to overfishing. The documentary film gains insights and inspiration from some of today’s top musicians and environmental leaders including blues legend Taj Mahal and renowned oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle. Blues Planet: Sounds investigates our relationship with the planet we call home – both the good and the bad – to the music of the Wyland Blues Planet Band.
