VIDEO: 'Moby' Is Pushed into Back Bay to Signify Start of Summer

The whale will remain in the bay through the summer so kids can swim around it and climb on it.

Swimsuit models pushed a 20-foot fiberglass whale into the Newport Dunes Back Bay today to continue a 56-year tradition signifying the start of summer.

The whale, called "Moby," was pushed by swimsuit models from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising wearing the latest fashions, according to Kristen Hinman, a spokeswoman for Newport Dunes.

"It's really fun and it's sort of the unofficial launch of summer," Hinman said.
