Unruly Party Law Goes Before Council; Local Gets High Honor from Pot Periodical

A handful of things happening in around Newport Beach.

1. If you enjoy getting drunk and crazy and urinating in public while partying in Newport Beach, the City Council has you in its crosshairs. Council members on Tuesday will further consider an ordinance that would create steep fines for people and property owners involved in . Find the rest of the agenda for the meeting, to be held at 7 p.m. at , here. A council study session is scheduled for 4 p.m. at City Hall.

2. Local woman Clazina Rose Van Andel has received a high honor. She was named Miss High Times 2011 by pot periodical High Times. Van Andel, a marijuana activist and one-time "ganga girl of the month" for the magazine, will receive a free trip to Amsterdam in November to be a judge at the 24th Annual Cannabis Cup, along with other prizes. 3. Runners will flock to Newport Beach on Sunday for the OC Marathon. The starting line will be at Newport Center Drive, just south of Santa Barbara Drive. Check here for road closure information. Runners can register online through Wednesday. In addition to the main event, there is a half-marathon and a 5K run. Registration fees are $110 for the marathon, $95 for the half-marathon and $45 for the 5K.

4. The Newport-Mesa Unified school board meets Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The meeting is at district HQ, 2985-A Bear Street in Costa Mesa. Find the agenda here.

5. The forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s for today, according to the Weather Channel. Things are expected to warm up during the week, with a possible high of 81 on Wednesday.
