Traffic Alert: Coast Highway to Close Tuesday-Friday

From a Newport Beach Police Department news release:

From Tuesday, April 8 to Friday, April 11, a contractor will be installing a new water main in Corona del Mar. Westbound lanes of Coast Highway between Marguerite and MacArthur (for vehicles traveling from the direction of Laguna Beach toward Huntington Beach) are closed during this time.

Eastbound lanes (for vehicles traveling from the direction of Huntington Beach toward Laguna Beach) will remain open, but traffic may be heavily impacted. The westbound lane closures may also create traffic delays on nearby streets in Corona del Mar.

Westbound travelers may use MacArthur Blvd, San Joaquin Hills Road, and Newport Coast (as detailed on the attached map) as a detour.  Eastbound travelers may do the same - in reverse - to avoid the construction zone.  All non-local traffic should use alternate routes such as San Joaquin Hills Road or Route 73.

The work is part of Newport Beach’s $4.5-million, Corona del Mar Water  Transmission Main project which will improve water supply to the Corona del Mar section of Newport Beach. For more information, please call the city’s Public Works Department at 949-644-3311 or visit the city website.
