Police Blood Donations Will Save 117 Patients

The Newport Beach Police Department participates in the seventh annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.

Police officers and community members rolled up their sleeves Wednesday to help generate much-needed blood donations for local patients.

Newport Beach saw a good number of donors at the seventh annual Battle of the Badges Red Cross Blood Drive. According to Laura Rudd, of the American Red Cross, 43 people participated and 39 pints of blood were collected.

"Each pint can save up to three lives, so therefore 117 Southern California hospital patients lives will be saved," Rudd said.

If you would like to donate blood, visit RedCrossBlood.org to schedule an appointment.
