Knitted Gifts to Benefit Breast Cancer Research

The sixth annual Knit One, Cure Too Knit-a-Thon was held over the weekend at Fashion Island. Nearly $1,000 has been raised for breast cancer research.

More than 150 knitters, each touched by breast cancer in some way, spent Saturday knitting holiday scarves and purses to help raise money for breast cancer research.

Spa Gregorie's sixth annual Knit One, Cure Too Knit-a-Thon was held at Macy's Fashion Island to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and breast cancer research. Event organizers say so far about $1,000 worth of knitted items have been sold, but there is still time to participate in the charitable sale.

“Many of us have lost loved ones to this horrible disease. Even the smallest gesture is an extra step towards a cure,” Angela Cortright, Spa Gregorie's owner, said. “These one-of-a-kind items are truly gifts that keep on giving."
