More than 150 knitters, each touched by breast cancer in some way, spent Saturday knitting holiday scarves and purses to help raise money for breast cancer research.
Spa Gregorie's sixth annual Knit One, Cure Too Knit-a-Thon was held at Macy's Fashion Island to raise funds for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and breast cancer research. Event organizers say so far about $1,000 worth of knitted items have been sold, but there is still time to participate in the charitable sale.
“Many of us have lost loved ones to this horrible disease. Even the smallest gesture is an extra step towards a cure,” Angela Cortright, Spa Gregorie's owner, said. “These one-of-a-kind items are truly gifts that keep on giving."
If you would like to buy a handmade scarf or purse and help raise money for breast cancer research, the items are for sale at all Spa Gregorie’s locations including Newport Beach and Rancho Santa Margarita. One hundred percent of the proceeds will directly benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Spa Gregorie’s is open seven days a week, Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
