Stanley Cup Visits Newport Police

Los Angeles Kings player and Newport Beach resident Dustin Penner shares the coveted trophy with police officers and their families.

The Stanley Cup made its way to Newport Beach Tuesday, via Los Angeles Kings player Dustin Penner.

Penner, a Newport resident, brought the coveted trophy -- which symbolizes the Kings' first National Hockey League Championship -- to the Newport Beach Police Department following an invitation from Canine Officer and lifelong Kings fan Mike Fletcher.

"Penner was kind enough to share his time with the Cup with Newport Beach Police Department members and their families who were extremely grateful for the opportunity to meet him and take photographs with the coveted trophy," Kathy Lowe, police spokeswoman, said in a released statement.
