Sewage Spill Closes Newport Bay

The bay water areas from the Upper Newport Bay to Newport Dunes remain closed, authorities reported.

A section of Newport Bay remains closed today after a sewage spill, county health officials reported.

Around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program issued a water warning for the bay water areas from the Upper Newport Bay to Newport Dunes. Details of the sewage spill were not immediately available, but health officials warned swimmers and divers to stay out of the water until further notice.
