PIMCO Employees Roll Up Their Sleeves for Needy Families
Hundreds of PIMCO employees take part in the fifth annual Share the Harvest food drive in Newport Beach to help feed nearly 40,000 Orange County residents.

PIMCO employees spent Saturday volunteering to help get holiday meals packed and ready for distribution to 40,000 Orange County residents.
The employees, joined by their family and friends, volunteered their time to take part in the company's fifth annual Share the Harvest food drive created by the Pimco Foundation. Sarah Middleton, the company's executive director, said the 204,540 pounds of food was processed by about 621 volunteers and packed into 10,000 boxes.

The food was purchased through the $250,000 donated by PIMCO employees, which included a $10,000 check from the foundation.
“It gets bigger and better knowing all of PIMCO is making an impact on 40,000 Orange County residents," Middleton said of the annual food drive. "None of this would be possible without every single person freezing in this garage right now."

The 10,000 boxes of food were donated to the Orange County Food Bank, which works to combat hunger on a daily basis, and will help feed needy families throughout the holiday season. Employees said volunteering to help those in need is part of the PIMCO culture.
"It’s in our DNA to give back,” employee Mark Porterfield said.
In Orange County, one in eight residents are unsure of where their next meal will come from and one in five are children, Middleton said.
