Volunteers Needed to Help Newport Track Bike Usage

As part of the city's Bicycle Master Plan, volunteers are needed to help city officials count bicycles in order to gauge usage.

City officials need residents to volunteer to help conduct bicycle counts in Newport Beach.

The bicycle counting is being done as part of Newport Beach 's Bicycle Master Plan and being used to track bicycle usage throughout the city, according to Brad Sommers, the city's senior civil engineer. 

The counts will done on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 7-9 a.m., and Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you would like to volunteer, a mandatory training session will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Newport Beach Civic Center's Community Room. If you are available to volunteer, send an email to Brad Sommers at  bsommers@newportbeachca.gov or call 949-644-3326 by Tuesday, Oct. 8.
