Newport Film Fest Continues; Sewage Spill; Meet the Mayor
A handful of things happening in and around Newport Beach.
1. The Newport Beach Film Festival continues through Thursday. There are many film screenings today. Check the program here. See photos of the opening night red carpet . And check out the weekend party scene .
2. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 84 degrees today, according to the Weather Channel. Things are expected to cool off for the rest of the week, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s by Saturday.
3. If you plan on taking a dip in the ocean to get some relief from today's heat, remember that a stretch of beach near the Balboa Pier is closed following a Tuesday sewage spill. More information .

4. Mayor Mike Henn will be at the Community Youth Center in Corona del Mar from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday to meet and talk with community members. Residents are encouraged to stop by to ask questions, make suggestions and discuss city issues. The center is at 3000 Fifth Ave., Corona del Mar. Get more information here.
