Learn Water Conservation Tips Tonight at Newport Beach Workshop

The fourth annual Water Miser Workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Library.

Residents are invited to take part in the city's fourth Annual Water Miser Workshop being held tonight at the Central Library.

The workshop will focus on ocean friendly and native planting with an emphasis on water conservation and water quality tips. Guest speakers Pamela Berstler from G3-Green Gardens Group and Paul Herzog from the Surfrider Foundation will be on hand to lend expert advice about the field of water conservation.

Shane Burckle, the city's water conservation coordinator, says the presentations will help residents understand why it is essential to be frugal with water.

"The community will be engaged in how to use water efficiently in the exterior part of their homes and in gardens," Burckle said. "Essentially using less water and applying it efficiently will help reduce the urban runoff into the ocean."

The workshop runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach
