If you're interested in finding out the history behind the Newport Beach Jetty, mark your calendar for Thursday, Oct. 6., at 6 p.m. The Newport Beach Historical Society will host a dinner presentation that will focus on the story of a son lost at sea, a father's love and the resolve to tame the wild and dangerous harbor entrance.
