Frugal Families: Happy Memorial Day!

It's Memorial Day weekend, and there is much to do in Corona del Mar. Backyards will be smoking with delicious barbecue, and American flags will be on display. This week, CDM has deals for your special gathering to make it both fun and affordable. 

- Deal: Memorial Day sale features patriotic pinwheels, two for $1; glow sticks, $1.49; confetti poppers, $7.99; Char-Broil LP gas grill, $279.99 (reg. $299.99); U.S. flag $9.99 (reg. $29.99). Good Through: May 30. 

- Deal: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts, $1.99 per pound; rib steak and loin New York strip steak, $4.99 per pound; blueberries, 99 cents per package; buy-one-get-one-free Lay's potato chips. Good Through:  May 31. 

- Deal: Memorial Day barbecue will feature $15 barbecue chicken dinner—or $18 tri-tip dinner—with corn bread and beans. On May 30, from 5-9 p.m., 10 percent of the meal will be donated to the 1/1 Marines.
