Father's Day at Newport Dunes, Summer Curfew Enforcement, Blog on Patch

A list of the things you need to know for June 18.

1. Let's be honest, in most households dad masters the barbecue grill, but if there's one day he deserves a day off, it's on Sunday. On Father's Day, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort is celebrating all dads with its inaugural Father’s Day on the Back Bay. The event begins at 11 a.m. and will include barbecues, a variety of beach activities including volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, contests, live music and a cardboard boat regatta. Newport Dunes Resort is located at 1131 Back Bay Drive. For more information or to get tickets, call 949 729-1144 or click here

2. Don't forget! The Newport Beach Police Department has started its crackdown on juveniles who may be violating curfew throughout the summer break vacation period. The city curfew ordinance prohibits any person under the age of 18 from loitering in streets, alleys and other public places between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Burdette said the curfew enforcement is in response to a recent increase in theft-related crimes committed throughout the city during nighttime hours by juveniles, but is also intended to keep kids from becoming crime victims themselves. Get more information on the city's curfew ordinance here

3. Tomorrow, from 6 to 7 p.m., the Showcase Singers will perform at Grant Howald Park in Corona del Mar. Stop by to see these talented performers entertain the audience with a medley of show tune classics.
