From the Newport Beach Police Department:

The Magic Shoe 5K Run/Walk, benefiting the Cynthia Holcomb Magic Shoe Foundation, will be held on Saturday, May 17 in the city's Eastbluff neighborhood, near Corona del Mar High School.

Road Closures / Traffic Detours

The following road closures and detours will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. this Saturday:

  • Eastbluff Drive - closed in both directions between Vista del Oro/Cacao Street and Mar Vista
    • Residents will be able to exit via Mar Vista Drive and Eastbluff Drive to the south and Vista del Oro/Cacao Street and Eastbluff Drive to the north.
  • Vista del Oro - closed between Mar Vista Drive and Eastbluff Drive
  • Residents that live off of Vista Laredo will be allowed to exit to the west toward Mar Vista.
  • Residents returning to the neighborhood between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. will need to enter from the north at Vista del Oro/Cacao Street and Eastbluff Drive.
  • Residents may exit the neighborhood during the event as shown on the traffic map (also above, you can download it here).

Amplified Sound and Start of Race

To help alleviate some of the noise impacts on surrounding neighbors, this year, the City asked the race organizers to start the race-related activities slightly later than in past years. Amplified sound will be permitted as of 8 a.m. The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. Because the activities are starting 30 minutes later than in past years, the road closures were extended to 11 a.m.

Should you have specific questions about the event, please contact the Cal Coast Track Club at 949-752-1300.
