Bacteria Warnings Issued in Newport Bay

Signs warning of unhealthy bacteria levels were posted Tuesday at sections of Newport Dunes and Newport Bay.

Some areas of Newport Bay are under a health advisory today, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program issued a bacteria warning for the east side of Newport Dunes and 38th Street Beach in Newport Bay.

According to health officials, the bacteria levels exceed health standards and contact with the water may cause illness.
