$3,300 Found in Donated Clothing at Sober Living House

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating the rightful owner.

About $3,300 turned up in a coat among some clothes donated to a sober living house in Costa Mesa, and asked for the public's help in finding the rightful owner.

Someone in a white van drove up to First Step House at 2015 Charle Street on Sunday and handed over a bundle of clothes to an employee, saying he was donating the items on behalf of a friend, according to Costa Mesa police Lt. Greg Scott.

The First Step House employee found the cash in a coat pocket and turned it over to police for safe keeping, he said. Only a vague description of the van driver was available.
