Lido Theatre Presents Special Premier of Surf Film “Chasing Mavericks” to Raise Funds for Charity

NEWPORT BEACH, CALIF., Aug. 12, 2013 – Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) of Southern California (www.boyshopegirlshope.org/socalis partnering with Lido Theatre in Newport Beach to present a special movie premier and charity event that will take place on Thursday, August 15. This movie premier is being held to raise funds to support academically capable yet disadvantage children pursue their dreams of higher education. Through the BHGH Program, children are provided H.O.P.E. – homes, opportunities, parenting and education and are provided a stable learning environment, access to competitive schools, healthy living, tutoring and counseling services, amongst other crucial needs. These children come from backgrounds of poverty, abuse, and neglect.

 

"This classic surf movie premier will connect the community with Boys Hope Girls Hope," says Diane DiCorpo, Executive Director of BHGH. "All ticket proceeds benefit our teens and by attending, you are providing our young scholars with the means to visit colleges, participate in afterschool educational programs, and more. It's going to be a fun, surf-filled evening!"

What:              Boys Hope Girls Hope of Southern California is an Orange County

based, non-profit 501 (c) (3) program that helps academically capable yet disadvantaged children pursue their dreams of higher education.  As an academic and residential program, six boys and six girls are cared for year-round in two designated homes.  These young scholars are given H.O.P.E. – homes, opportunities, parenting and education –a stable learning environment, access to competitive schools, healthy living, tutoring and counseling services, amongst other crucial needs.

 

Since BHGH first opened its doors in 1991, 100% of program graduates have completed high school and have entered into higher education. With your support, by attending this movie night, you will help the program continue providing a safe, fun, loving and learning-filled environment for Boys Hope Girls Hope scholars.

Time:         5:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Cost:               Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children

 

100% of sales will go to BHGH

 

FREE food will be available starting at 5:00 p.m. at Woody’s Diner and the movie begins at 6:30 p.m.
