KC & Sunshine Band To “Shake Shake Shake” Up Newport Dunes’ 4th Of July Extravaganza

Put on your groove and head to Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina for its 55th annual 4th of July Extravaganza.  In addition to hosting one of the most spectacular fireworks displays in Southern California, this year’s 2-day celebration will feature headliner KC and the Sunshine Band as well as other live musical acts, family fun activities, Moe B’s Aquatic Park and other festivities July 4 – 6. 

KC and the Sunshine Band helped define the sound of the ‘70s disco era with its funky and R&B sound. Lead vocalist Harry Wayne Casey formed the band in 1973 in Miami, Florida and went on to sell more than 100 million records including “That's the Way (I Like It)," "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep It Comin' Love," "Get Down Tonight," "Give It Up" and "Please Don't Go." 

JULY 4

12-6p.m. - Carnival games, face painting, caricature artists, crafts, temporary tattoo tent, balloon sculptor available to everyone within the concert area.

12-6p.m. - Moe B’s Aquatic Park will be in full swing and the public may rent any number of amenities including paddleboards, kayaks, peddleboats, sailboats, etc. To reserve in advance call 949-999-3180.

Opening Acts:

* 3 -4 p.m. – Pickleback Shine

* 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. – Fusion Beat performs

* 6 – 7 p.m. – Reflexx performs

Noon – 4 p.m. – Enjoy the culinary delights served from more than 10 food trucks then cast your vote for your favorite – they may earn a $1,000 top prize.

3 – 9 p.m. – A wood-fire grill buffet will be served at the onsite Back Bay Bistro; $45 for adults and $22.50 per child under 12 (Convert VIP tickets include the buffet).  Advanced reservations required.

7:30 – 9:00 p.m.– KC and the Sunshine Band performs on the Red, White & Blue Stage

9:00 p.m. - Fireworks Spectacular

JULY 5

1 p.m. – 10 p.m.  -  “House‘of 80s” is the theme of the day with KROQ FM/Sirius DJ Richard Blade spinning the era’s rock ‘n roll to set the tone.

4 p.m. – Live music by Flashback Heart Attack the high energy 80’s tribute band.

5:30p.m.– Neon Nation will perform rocking 80s hits just like you remember them.
