Commercial Real Estate Services Innovator, Hughes Marino, Opens in Orange County

Hughes Marino, one of the region’s leaders in tenant-only commercial real estate services, has opened a new office in Newport Beach to serve the Orange County business community.  The Hughes Marino office, located at 4000 MacArthur Blvd. Suite 900, will offer a full range of services including tenant and buyer representation, enterprise zone tax credit services, lease audit services, and construction management.  Hughes Marino was voted San Diego's Best Commercial Real Estate Company by the U-T, San Diego’s metropolitan newspaper, as well as Most Trusted Commercial Real Estate Company by SD Metro Magazine, and Best Places to Work in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal.

"We're truly excited to offer our unique culture, spectrum of services and high-level expertise to Orange County businesses," said Jason Hughes, President of Hughes Marino. "We only represent tenants, never landlords. This means that our fiduciary is to the business owners, non-profits, municipalities and other organizations we are proud to call our clients - and we take protecting their right and bottom-line very seriously."

Jason Hughes, along with Brendan Foote, Senior Vice President of Hughes Marino's Tax Credit Services, and Jessica LeBlanc, Hughes Marino Associate, will head the Newport Beach office.

“After receiving final designation on February 1st this year, Anaheim is now one of California's 42 Enterprise Zones,” said Foote, “we have opened up the office to better serve our Orange County clients located in the Anaheim, Santa Ana and Long Beach Enterprise Zones as well as the business communities eligible for these substantial tax savings opportunities. Our expertise in this niche field has generated tax refunds and savings in excess of $35 million since 2006 for our clients.”

The California Enterprise Zone Program offers California income tax credits to companies operating in one or more of the 42 zones statewide for hiring and capital expenditures.  Companies located in the Enterprise Zone are eligible for up to $37,000 in credit per qualified employee, and the opportunity to recover California sales tax on qualified equipment purchases.  Hughes Marino Tax Credit Services represents over 350 companies and serves more than 50 CPA firms throughout California in securing these tax benefits.

“We do not compete with accounting representatives or CPAs.” Foote added. “We work together with a company's CPA in a way that complements their accounting representation and creates real bottom line savings.”

Hughes Marino client, Bhavesh Patel, Senior Vice President of Finance for Evolution Hospitality in Newport Beach, noted, “As a large hospitality investment, development and management company based in Southern California, we rely on the expertise of the Hughes Marino Tax Credit Services team not only to secure all available tax credits on our behalf, but also to advise us during the financial modeling process when evaluating how tax credits influence project feasibility. Their efforts have resulted in large tax savings for our company and I admire the passion they have for their work.”

Hughes emphasized, "Our goals, and the very culture that makes us successful, is to build partnerships that last long after the transaction."

Among the services that have earned Hughes Marino an outstanding reputation in the marketplace is its attention to details, as demonstrated through the Hughes Marino Construction Management team.  “We take pride in guiding our clients, from tenant improvements to a ground up build-to-suit,” said Hughes. “We recognize that with proper oversight, a company can dramatically reduce the risks of costly delays, budget overruns, time consuming change orders, and a final product that falls short of expectations. We put our experience to work for our clients to help structure an overall master plan and execute that plan from start to finish.”

Hughes Marino is a member of Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, Anaheim/Orange County Hotel Lodging Association, and ProVisors.
