Veteran Job Fair, Planning Commission and Emerging Drugs Trends

1. The Newport Beach Planning Commission meets tonight at 6:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 100 Civic Center Dr. Read the agenda here.

2. The Orange County Veterans Employment Committee will host the 28th annual "Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet Job and Resource Fair" today. Veterans will have an opportunity to search for jobs and meet with employers starting at 9 a.m. Hilton Costa Mesa, Pacific Ballroom, 3050 Bristol, Costa Mesa.

3. Tickets are on sale now for a courtyard concert on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. the OASIS Senior Center. The concert will feature a Beach Boys tribute band. Tickets are on sale now for $10 at the administration office, 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.

4. Save the Date! The Orange County Sheriff's Department will he holding an Emerging Drug Trends presentation on Thursday, Aug. 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The presentation will include information on new drugs found in schools and social networking risks. Five meetings will be held around Orange County including at Foothill High School in Santa Ana, the San Juan Capistrano Unified School District and the Laguna Hills Community Center. 5. Today will be foggy in the morning, but mostly sunny during the day. Highs will be around 72 near the coast, inland areas will be 83-88, according to the National Weather Service.
