Health Warnings Issued at Newport Bay

Signs warning of unhealthy bacteria levels were posted Tuesday at sections of Newport Bay.

Some areas of Newport Bay are under a health advisory today, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Ocean Water Protection Program posted warning signs at the 33rd Street Channel in Newport Bay, and 300 feet at the east side of Newport Dunes.

According to health officials, the bacteria levels exceed health standards and contact with the water may cause illness.
