1. A UCI Medical Lecture will be held today from 10-11:30 a.m. at the OASIS Senior Center in Corona del Mar. Dr. Sai Hong Ou, a cancer specialist at UC Irvine, will speak about causes of lung cancer, symptoms, risk factors, treatments, prevention and more. The discussion will be held in Room 1 at the OASIS, 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.
2. Today the community is invited to join a group of volunteers who tend to the cultivation of native plants at the Newport Bay Conservancy at 9 a.m. The group will be collecting seeds and maintaining previously planted sites. Service hours are available by contacting Matt Yurko at 949-640-0286.
3. The 3rd annual Talent Showcase will be held today from 2-4 p.m. at the OASIS Event Center. Free tickets are available in the Oasis administration office, 801 Narcissus Ave. in Corona del Mar.
4. The 23rd annual Charity Plant Auction and Chili Cook-off begins at 5 p.m. to benefit horticulture research and scholarships, as well as other causes. OC Fair and Event Center, Los Alamitos Building and OC Promenade, 88 Fair Drive, Costa Mesa.
5. Today will be mostly sunny, with highs 70-75 near the coast, and 83-88 inland, according to the National Weather Service.
