Newport Beach Police Seek Victims of Dent-Repair Scam

A resident was recently conned out of $300.

Detectives in Newport Beach are looking for residents who might have fallen victim to an auto-dent repair scam.

Police said the search for victims was prompted by an Oct. 22 incident. At about 3 p.m., a resident in the 1400 block of Galaxy Drive was approached by two suspects who offered to fix a dent on her vehicle.

The two men followed the victim to an ATM where she withdrew $300 to cover materials for the job. After she gave them the money, the men left and never returned, according to Newport Beach police.
