A Look at the New Forever 21 at Fashion Island
One of Orange County's largest Forever 21 stores is open at Fashion Island. Here's a look at the brands shoppers will find there.
It's a beautiful time for Newport Beach fashionistas.
One of Orange County's largest Forever 21 stores is open at Fashion Island. The two-story store, in the spot where Circuit City was located until it closed in 2009, is filled with clothes, shoes and accessories for women, men and kids. The more than 36,000 square feet is divided into distinct areas that showcase Forever 21's many clothing lines.
Forever 21, a quickly-growing clothing retailer that began as Fashion 21 in Los Angeles in 1984, has had a store near Fashion Island's Atrium Court since 2003. That location has closed and Z Gallerie is expected to move in soon.
“Forever 21 is one of the most successful retail brands in the nation,” said Keith Eyrich, President of Irvine Company Retail Properties, earlier this year when it was announced that Forever 21 would move into the old Circuit City location.
“Fast fashion is in high demand in the marketplace and the larger store will be embraced by Fashion Island’s trend-conscious shopper.”
The expanded Forever 21 store at Fashion Island, which had its grand opening Nov. 20, has one of the largest collections of Forever 21 brands in Orange County.
Basics: Tees in solid colors for $3.50 and leggings for $4.50. Forever 21 updates its basics collection often to follow the latest clothing trends, said Kira Merz, Forever 21's retail marketing supervisor.
Love 21: A new spin on Forever 21's trendy contemporary line, with offerings geared toward more conservative dressers ages 25 to 45. It is more for a working professional, with "more elevated fabrics, modest hemlines, a little more conservative, but we stay true to the Forever 21 price point," Merz said. A black blazer that could also work as an evening jacket, for example, sells for $29.50. A black sequin asymmetrical dress goes for $32.80.
Heritage 1981: A more casual, collegiate look. "The Heritage 1981 line is for the more fun, relaxed girl. She's into her plaids, she's going to throw on some denim, but she knows how to mix and match really well," Merz said.
Minnie Muse: A new collaboration with Disney consisting of pieces that pay homage to Mickey Mouse's girlfriend. A blush-colored sequin A-line dress with black sequin ears on the bottom is one of the popular pieces in the line.
Intimate apparel: A variety, with underwear priced at five for $12 and bras at $5.80.
Denim: A wide selection of denim styles and washes. There are licensed tees by Disney and Warner Bros., featuring Looney Tunes' characters such as Tweety Bird. In the same room, is the new Kids collection. Tops are as low as $6 and dresses, $13. The kids line is an extension of its popular Heritage 1981 brand for men and women.
Shoes: Many styles of boots, heels and flats. Shoppers can try on shoes while they are waiting in line to try on clothes.
Accessories: Bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, belts and handbags. "We have anything for that girl who is coming in to get her wardrobe accessorized," Merz said.
Beauty: Everything from lip gloss, eye shadow and blush to several shades of nail polish starting at $2.80 a bottle.
21Men: "This is for the fun, edgy male consumer," Merz said. The line features comfortable fabrics and the latest trends completely accessorized with long scarves, leather jackets, and fleece hoodies, perfect for layering.
